| Bronze Age: Egnatia and The Sea. Coastal Villages: a Bridge to East |

Starting from the analysis of the proto historical settlement of Egnatia, we examine the problems of the population of the territory during the Bronze age, with particular reference to the role played by the settlements located along the Adriatic coast in II millennium B. C. Together with Egnatia are present – among the most significant ones – the sites of Monopoli, Torre S. Sabina and Punta the Terrare (BR) whose stages of formation and development as well as the settlement structure and economy are highlighted.
The presence of ceramics imported by Aegean in these villages, proves the contacts with the Hellenic civilizations which, in the first half of the II millennium, started moving towards west. Influencing – whether directly or indirectly – the history of the local communities.
